Pee Wee Little League Champs

Pee Wee Little League Champs
I played baseball for about 7 years. Chosen for the all-star team for 6 of those years (small league) but this was one of the biggest moments for me personally. throughout my life, Coaches and mentors have made a tremendous difference between success and failure in everything I’ve done.

First Little League Shutout

First Little League Shutout
This photo appeared in a local Florida newspaper. Apparently, it was the first league shutout. My coaches rotated me between pitching and catching and my teammate Steven Hirsch was at least as good as I was, probably better. I just happen to be in the right place at the right time for the win.

NPSA - National Number One Plate

National Pedal Sports Association, National Number One Plate
After finishing number 2 during the previous season, I finally won the number one plate, in two divisions. I don’t believe it would have been possible without my parents strong committment to the sport and to me. They drove me and other racers hundreds and sometimes thousands of miles so we could compete at qualifying and national events. The deserve all the credit for putting me in the right place at the right time.

BMX T-Shirt Design Contest
This was my first design contest award. I was around 14 yrs old at the time. I didn’t earn any cash but my racing fees were covered and I remember eating for free at the concession stand for two days during the races. I also got to meet several of my BMX heroes including, Stompin’ Stu Thompson!

Meeting Stu Thompson was waay bigger to me than any t-shirt contest. Only folks that raced at the small tracks around the country during this time period would have any idea what I’m talking about.

Presidential Physical Fitness Award

Presidential Physical Fitness Award
At the time, you had to compete for this with the other kids in your school. I think the “1” stands for the first year of the program.

As soon as I get my certificate for “Creativity” from Mrs. Tanton I’ll post it. My fourth grade year was one of the last good years I had in school before college.
